Abstract

Aircraft components, so-called Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), are subject to numerous, complex and often manual maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) procedures to ensure long operating cycles. In order to remain competitive in the long term, in spite of increased cost pressure, MRO service providers must improve the efficiency of their processes through the targeted use of internal knowledge and data sources. The application of data-driven approaches alone is hindered because data is generated at the business process level (IT, e.g. in ERP systems) and at the equipment level (OT, e.g. in test equipment). The integration of both data sources promises to improve diagnosis and maintenance scheduling. However, creating a unified view on the data is a problem due to the heterogeneous sources, formats, and semantics. The use of Semantic Technologies can be helpful to overcome these challenges and provide the foundation for improved data management..
